In a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley and Ranking Member Diane Feinstein, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and 107 national organizations cited Judge Gorsuch’s record of an agenda outside the “mainstream of legal thought” as well as a lack of impartiality of independence and impartiality. Gorsuch’s troubling record on discrimination claims, workers’ rights, immigration, womens’ health, LGBT rights, police misconduct, disabilities, voting rights, and environmental protection, among other civil rights issues, demonstrates that he would “undermine many of our core rights and legal protections.” As the new president has continually attacked independent judges who have ruled against him, a strong and independent judiciary is more important than ever. Judge Gorsuch’s record shows that he “would be highly unlikely to show independence from a President who shares his ideological agenda.” https://www.nhmc.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/LeadershipConferenceGorsuchOpposition.pdf]]>
