Luis Ramón Quintero is a bilingual first-generation Mexican-American writer from Pacoima, California. If David Fincher and Guillermo Del Toro had a secret love child, it would be Luis. Quintero loves Fincher’s cerebral approach to shows like “Mindhunter” with sprinkles of Del Toro’s gothic romance sensibilities.
Luis dedicates his life to family, building community and the entertainment industry, not because of the glam factor, but for the deep rooted layers within them. To him they represent integrity, awareness and catalyst for change.
Quintero served on the Community Advisory Board at KCET / PBS for six years, 2007-2013, four as Chair of the Hispanic Heritage Committee, one as Vice Chair for the overall board and culminated with the final year as Chair. After KCET, Luis was on the board of directors for the Expediente Rojo Project for four years, 2012-2016. The Expediente Rojo Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that bridges the gap between law enforcement and the Latino community.
In 2019, Quintero served as a mentor for Edward James Olmos’ Youth Cinema Program. In addition, Quintero also served as part of the Diversity In Cannes Film Festival screening committee, 2019-2021.
Quintero is currently a volunteer for Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), where he is actively participating in the designated driver initiative program in partnership with the NFL and the Los Angeles Rams.
Luis is a proud charter member for the Academy of Motion Pictures Museum.
Quintero strives to spark social consciousness through entertainment. His long term goal is to eliminate Latin stereotypes in mainstream media and offer a platform where women and people of color can create stories that represent the world we live in today.
In 2014, Quintero was an NBC Universal Pictures Emerging Writers Fellowship finalist. In 2016, another of his short films, Guiltless, was nominated for an Imagen Award in the Best Theatrical Short category by Norman Lear's Imagen Foundation. In 2020, Luis was a National Hispanic Media Coalition (N.H.M.C.) TV Writers' Workshop fellow, sponsored by Disney/ABC and NBC. His script, Vindictive Desires, earned Luis Second Rounder placement at the 2021 Austin Film Festival script competition.
