On Thursday, January 9, Voices for Internet Freedom, in partnership with the National Hispanic Media Coalition, Center for Media Justice, Free Press, and ColorOfChange, will host a town-hall event in Oakland, Calif. offering community members a unique opportunity to speak with recently-appointed Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler.
You can join and follow the conversation on Twitter using hashtag #oaklandvoices.
For reporters wishing to cover the event, please RSVP to Jenn Topper at
jtopper@freepress.net.
Oakland Voices: A Town Hall on Our Right to Communicate will give Oakland community members an opportunity to share their stories — and to tell Chairman Wheeler about the impacts of an increasingly corporate media environment.
This is a chance to tell him face to face about the kind of media system that best meets our needs — and to advocate for the health and well-being of our families and our communities.
