Net Neutrality Rules Take Effect Today

Net Neutrality Rules Take Effect Today WASHINGTON - This morning, the FCC's Net Neutrality rules took effect, preventing Internet fast lanes for the rich and slow lanes for the rest. Yesterday, the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a motion from Internet service providers to stay the rules. The stay, had it been granted, would have prevented the rules from taking effect until legal challenges are resolved.

The following statement can be attributed to Michael Scurato, policy director for the National Hispanic Media Coalition:

"NHMC is thrilled that these rules will go into effect immediately. Among other things, they ensure that Latinos and other people of color, often omitted and stereotyped in traditional media, have an outlet to share their own stories without going through gatekeepers."
