(PASADENA, Calif. - 7/2/15)- Today, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) sent a letter to the PGA of America asking it to suspend its relationship with Donald Trump and his business enterprises due to the racist comments he made about the Latino community during his Presidential announcement speech on June 16.

Trump's comments on immigrants, and in particular the Mexican American community, have caused a warranted national uproar with many businesses and celebrities, including NBC, Univision and Macy's,
ending their relationships with the U.S. Presidential candidate. Although the PGA has stated it does not stand by Trump's bigoted statements, it has not commented on the future of its relationship with Trump and the many championships held on his golf courses.
"Imagine how it feels for Latino golf enthusiasts, players and powerless golf course employees across the country to hear themselves and their family members referred to as criminals and rapists by a person that the PGA has elevated to a prominent position in the golf community," said
Alex Nogales, NHMC President/CEO, in
a letter to PGACEO, Peter Bevacqua, and PGA President, Derek Sprague.
If the PGA truly has a strong commitment to an inclusive and welcoming environment in the game of golf, then the PGA needs to re-evaluate its relationship.
