(PASADENA, Calif. - 7/16/15) – Donald Trump continues his bigoted tirades against Mexicans while trying to rewrite history by saying his racist comments were aimed at the Mexican government, not its people. In his June 16 Presidential announcement, Trump said:
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you … They’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”
“He was talking about the Mexican people not the Mexican government,” said Alex Nogales, President/CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC). “By attempting to change the narrative, he insults us further and gives us little choice but to continue our campaign against him and his brand.” Today, NHMC sent additional letters today to the LPGA, the PGA Tour and the USGA, urging them to end their relationships with Trump and the Trump Organization. However, NHMC requests that the PGA of America pull the Grand Slam from that course in years to come, as well as the 2022 PGA Championship and the 2017 Senior PGA Championship from Trump’s courses, in addition to any yet announced tournaments slated for Trump courses.
