For more than 20 years, the Series Scriptwriters Program has been a cornerstone in launching the careers of more than 200 Latine writers. This eight-week, intensive writer’s lab connects aspiring storytellers with seasoned mentors and industry leaders, offering unparalleled opportunities to:

  • Work closely with industry mentors
  • Join a community of alum Latine writers
  • Connect with agents, managers, and executives in the entertainment industry
  • Develop an original half-hour or hour-long series pilot
  • Pitch to NHMC’s network of partners including The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, Netflix, and more

This year, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) celebrated the successful completion of its 2024 cohort with a special closing ceremony featuring remarks from comedian, writer, actor, and producer Al Madrigal (Lopez vs. Lopez).

Graduates of the program have worked on shows across platforms like Netflix, Paramount+, Disney+, Apple TV+, and more. Their stories challenge stereotypes, amplify authentic Latine experiences, and humanize our community on a global stage. When you give, you help amplify authentic Latine voices, creating lasting change both on and off the screen.

Media and Policy Fellowships

NHMC has two fellowship programs designed to offer college students valuable hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and skill development that will help propel their careers in advocacy, media, and policy while also contributing to impactful work in equity and representation.

The NHMC Policy Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to digital equity, telecommunications, technology, civil rights, and media policy advocacy work. Fellows engage in critical initiatives to:

  • Bridge the digital divide
  • Defend net neutrality
  • Safeguard Internet affordability programs
  • Counter disinformation targeting Latino communities

Support allows fellows to drive policy advocacy, conduct research, and develop impactful policy memos. By engaging with policymakers and collaborating within influential coalitions, this fellowship is shaping the next generation of leaders dedicated to addressing policy issues impacting marginalized communities.

The NHMC Media Fellowship plays a critical role in advocating for digital equity, combating disinformation, and amplifying Latino voices in media. Fellows are part of:

  • Promoting broadband accessibility
  • Combating online hate speech and disinformation and consistent lack of support for Latine projects
  • Empowering Latine representation in media

Media fellows are shaping narratives that reflect the richness and resilience of our community. Contribution directly supports initiatives that break down media barriers and build opportunities for authentic representation in the media industry.
