The National Hispanic Media Coalition Presents
Building Community: Elevating Women In Sports
Emmy Award-winning Journalist MJ Acosta-Ruiz Hosts Our Latest Episode Celebrating Women’s History Month with Women Athletes Changing The Game
The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) hosted a panel featuring athletes diving into culture, gender, and representation which is live now on NHMC’s YouTube Channel.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, NHMC reaffirms its commitment to elevating Latina representation in Hollywood, D.C., and beyond. Only 38.4% of athletes currently employed in the United States are women and the most common ethnicity of overall athletes is White at 72.8%, and with a gender-wage gap more present than ever, it is time we invest in and elevate our talented Latina athletes. Hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist MJ Acosta-Ruiz, the first woman of color to host a show at the NFL Network and last year’s NHMC Impact Awards Gala co-host, the panel explores the interdimensional identities Latina athletes carry in the industry, shining a light on representation and finding a support system of powerful women.
