Embracing the theme of “Fortifying Human Rights and Building Power” this year to build an Information Education Movement

Today, the non-profit civil and human rights organization National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) announced its 2025 Policy Priorities and theme of “Fortifying Human Rights and Building Power.” The stakes for NHMC and our nation are higher than ever and this year marks a pivotal moment in the pursuit of justice, equity, and opportunity – particularly for Latino communities.

This year, NHMC will continue to work toward a future where Latino voices lead the way and Latino communities are embraced with respect, dignity, and the freedom to thrive. NHMC’s unwavering commitment to challenge harmful policies and drive bold solutions for humanity, cultural belonging, and justice will drive its efforts over the course of the year. As part of their 2025 Policy Priorities, the pillars shaping NHMC’s efforts include Defending Equity, Demanding Accountability & Responsibility, Upholding Latinos’ Seat at the Table, and Harnessing Artificial Intelligence. "In 2025, NHMC is committed to continue unlocking opportunities for the Latino community and will lead the way with our Information Education Movement, equipping our community with tools to identify and counter Information Fraud,” said Brenda Victoria Castillo, President and CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition. “At NHMC, we are dedicated to advancing policies that uplift our values and ensure equitable access to knowledge and resources that engage and inform us all. By leading the Information Education Movement and amplifying Latino voices, this year we will help ensure a future where our communities lead with dignity, thrive in justice and belonging, and inspire bold solutions for a united and brighter tomorrow.”

Through the 2025 Policy Priorities, NHMC will hold our nation’s leaders accountable, preserve online safety for children, ensure historically and intentionally marginalized people have access to critical and relevant information in their communities, and counter information fraud with an Information Education Movement.

NHMC’s Information Education Movement will be powered by providing reliable resources and factual information to encourage responsible consumption of digital information like the recently released Seeing Beyond Information Fraud: Practical Transparency - A Guide for the Informed Individual,” a guide and resource put forth by their Spanish Language Disinformation Coalition providing practical strategies to recognize and address information fraud. NHMC is proud to provide this resource in English and Spanish for everyone to access free of charge.

As part of its mission, NHMC is committed to advocating for Latino communities while fortifying belonging, celebrating our culture, and affirming our shared humanity. Through education, engagement, and awareness, NHMC continues to unlock Latino potential, ensuring that the culture’s rich legacy becomes a driving force in shaping the future of the United States.

National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is a woman-led 501(c)(3) non-profit civil and human rights organization that was founded to eliminate hate, discrimination, and racism toward the Latino communities.
