As April comes to a close, take a look at some highlights from this collection of Latine creatives
When given the opportunity to create, we create excellence!
On April 8th, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) released Seeing Beyond The Stereotypes: Telling Authentic Latino/a/x/e Stories -A Guide for the Entertainment Industry. A first of its kind, Seeing Beyond The Stereotypes will drive media portrayals of the Latine community away from the current state of representation towards a more authentic and in depth understanding of the Latine community and stories we deserve.
Moving forward, NHMC plans to hold private, unrecorded, safe space one-on-one sessions with studio executives throughout the country, to collaborate and answer questions, while encouraging them to adopt the tenets of the media guide throughout their content. The customly designed sessions with top-level executives will be facilitated by President and CEO Brenda Victoria Castillo, creating an opportunity for industry-leaders to have honest and authentic discussions covering their questions about the Latine community.
In promotion of the Media Guide, NHMC Visionary Alliance Member, Actor, Producer, and Musician Gabriel Luna spoke with Victor Blackwell of CNN’s First of All. They discussed the importance and purpose of the media guide and gave a special shout out to Brenda and our team for collecting the data and publishing the guide. Thank you Gabriel for your continued support and passion for ensuring authentic Latine stories are told.
